MTSU Students Protest Rate Hikes

The Coalition of Students to Save Our Schools will be gathering in front of the Murphy Center in a designated free speech zone at 11AM on December 13th to protest the tuition rate hikes at Tennessee's public universities of 24%. Organizers are inviting supporters to attend. They request that those participating in the event park in the Agricultural parking lot or a similarly distanced location in order to leave the closest parking available to the graduates and their families.

The Coalition to Save our Schools has decided that certain guidelines are necessary concerning Saturday's event in order to maintain a positive image of the organization (the media will be present), respect the graduates and their families, and acknowledge the gesture of goodwill we have received from President McPhee and Chancellor Manning.

Appropriate clothing is expected. Dress as if you are attending your own graduation (dress shirt, tie and jacket for men and something similarly appropriate for women). This will be a QUIET demonstration. No megaphones, chanting, music, or other disruptive behavior. Please do not bring signs or banners. The logistics team will handle this in order to present a united message. The Coalition appreciates your participation and support and we thank you for observing these guidelines.
