Fifth Estate Benefit Fundraisers

There will be two benefits for the Fifth Estate this weekend; one in Detroit and the other in New York City. These are crucial to the magazine given the financial status of the 42-year-old publication. As it is, lack of funds has resulted in the Summer edition being delayed and rolled into the Fall edition meaning one less issue for the year.

Numerous independent newspapers and magazines have folded in the last year in part due to falling circulation that all print media is experiencing, but mostly because of the rising cost of printing and postage. The latter is set to surge because of a Time-Warner generated rate increase. http://action.freepress.net/freepress/postal_explanation.html.

The two events are the third in reader generated benefits to assure the Fifth Estate doesn't join the list of those whose radical voice is disappeared. Information about the benefits is below.

If you can't attend, please consider sending the admission fee as a donation or subscribe. Send to Fifth Estate, POB 201016, Ferndale MI 48220. If you haven't seen the magazine in a while, you can request a sample copy at that box number.
